Kira Mykytenko
I am Kira Mykytenko, a Ukrainian artist. My journey began early: at the age of six, I opened my first solo exhibition and became the youngest author and youngest patron of Ukraine – a national record that still stands. Since then, art has been a form of presence, attention, and inner responsibility for me.
In my practice, I combine painting and complex graphics, exploring the boundaries between emotional experience and its embodiment in form. My three-year body of work culminated in a series of 46 pieces – "maps of states." I create anthropomorphic images from thorns, flowers, light, and shadows that do not exist literally but are recognizable at a subconscious level. For me, color is a living process that breathes and transforms each work into a place of silence, where the connoisseur can enter for their own answers.

Statement
My art is born not from an image, but from a feeling. I work with color as a process – one that germinates, deforms, breathes, and remembers. In my works, form is not complete: it is in motion between light and shadow, tenderness and sharpness, presence and emptiness. I create beings that do not exist literally but are recognized internally. They are assembled from thorns, flowers, circles, and openings – like maps of states in which the body becomes a language. For me, color is not an adornment but a way of attention, through which light agrees to be a body. My artistic voice formed very early: at the age of six, I held my first solo painting exhibition and was recorded as the youngest author of a solo exhibition in Ukraine and the youngest patron of Ukraine. From that moment, art for me is not only a way of self-expression but a form of care, presence, and responsibility. I work with the image as a place of silence – one can enter it, but not explain it.
